Making Music

Some of our classes have been exploring the theme ‘Making Music’ in school this half term, they are enjoying using and and listening to a range of musical instruments in a number of different ways, focusing on different skills whilst doing so (expressive communication, making choice, following instructions etc). With this in mind, I thought it would be a good opportunity to research the benefits of music for those with ASD. I came across this lovely article which tells of a mother’s relationship with her son and how they found a connection and bonded through music. There are also links in the article to different musical activities that can be accessed at home.
