Rebecca Barnes
Elected Parent GovernorAbout Rebecca Barnes.
Hello. My name is Rebecca and my daughter attends Newfield. As parent governor I feel it’s important to support both the school and the parents in making sure that Newfield continues to be a thriving school for all of our pupils.
When any parent receives a SEND diagnosis for their child, the world becomes a smaller place and you don’t really know where to turn. Our daughter spent two years in mainstream education and we knew that they wouldn’t be able to cater for her needs the older she got. Since starting Newfield, we have had so much support from the school, the staff and other parents.
Finally, we had found a ‘family’ who understands and pushes our children to be the best they can be, providing a challenging education for all the pupils.
Our daughter is thriving at the school and I am very appreciative for all the effort and the amount of work that goes into looking after our children. Being a parent governor is a great way to say thank you and to help Newfield grow and develop even further.
I have been a secondary school teacher since 2005 and I know how important governors are in the running of a school.
As parent governor, I will work with the governing board to ensure that all pupils receive high quality education and to continue the excellent work that is already happening at Newfield.
